It was an honor to photograph Sgt. Taylor Urruela, Co-founder of VETsports for the Lightning Foundation’s 8th Community Hero Award this season. Each Hero is recognized for outstanding work within the local community and receives a $50,000 donation to give to the non-profit organization of their choosing. The photos are incorporated into a video segment shown at Lighting Hockey games up on a giant 28×50 foot HD arena display inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

I shot this editorial session with a Nikon Df and 35mm f/1.4G, 85mm f/1.8G and 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses. Off-camera flash was used on the last two shots in the post using a Nikon SB-910 Speedlight; triggered with Pocket Wizard MiniTT1 and FlexTT5.
All other shots were done with natural lighting.
