STYLISH MODEL AND ACTOR PORTRAITS // TAMPA COMP CARD PHOTOGRAPHER

Art and Form in the Urban Environment

+++

I had an awesome time working with Mr. Jeff Fox for part 1 of a comp card session. A comp card (also known as a Zed Card) is a model or actor’s photo business card; usually comprised of 4 different looks and a head shot and printed on 5×8 card stock.

We decided on downtown Tampa as the backdrop for our first two looks; starting out at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, then walking through the businesses district and wrapping up in Kiley Garden park. Even in a busy urban environment on a weekday, artistic moments can be captured that feel like the subject is the only person in city.

Jeff is a natural and the camera loves him. He brought a lot of style and raw talent to the shoot that made my job very easy. Jeff is also a great guy and having conversation over craft-cocktails at Anise Gastrobar after the shoot was a perfect way to end the afternoon.

The following shots were done with a Nikon Df, an 85mm f/1.8G lens and a 35mm F/1.4G lens for the shots in the cafe. I used two off-camera flashes; SB-910 and SB-900 speedlights triggered by the PocketWizard MiniTT1/FlexTT5 system. I also used a 28″ Apollo Softbox and a 30″ PhotoFlex Satin Umbrella, as well as bare-bulb for some outside shots…
