Chinatown NYC Engagement Photographer // Stephanie & David
+++
When I first started thinking about an engagement shoot with Stephanie and David, I knew I wanted it to carry a nostalgic tone that felt reminiscent of New York in the early-80’s. They’re a very stylish couple and it was important to get the cool-factor just right. So, Chinatown was the location for me; gritty, funky, old-school New York feel. Stephanie and David contrasted well against it and I’m really happy we shot there. Of course, when you’re as photogenic as these two, we could have shot at Starbucks and it still would have been awesome!
From there, we took the subway up to Times Square to do some long exposure shots and finish the session.
I used my Nikon Df for the shoot as well as 50mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.8 prime lenses along with an occasional SB-910 speedlight used off-camera and triggered by a PocketWizard MiniTT1/FlexTT5 system. On a side note, I almost got a ticket from the NYPD when I clamped my speedlight to a traffic sign. Apparently, that’s not allowed, but a light stand is perfectly fine…heads up if you shoot in the Big Apple!
