Tropicana Field Engagement
Tropicana Field Engagement with Sarah & Daniel
Sarah & Daniel are big-tme Rays Baseball fans, so a sports-themed session at Tropicana Field was a perfect choice for their engagement photos. This was my first time shooting at the Trop. Walking out onto the field was impressive. It’s an enormous panorama of space with a giant domed canopy that is visually overwhelming. Sarah & Daniel brought baseball gloves and the first thing they wanted to do was throw the ball around. They play catch at home, so it must have been a real treat for them to do this on Tropicana Field. I could tell they were into it because every time I stopped shooting to move lighting or change a lens, they would go right back to playing catch. It made them so happy and I really like that about them. Sarah & Daniel are both warm and fun with a great sense of play. It was a pleasure to work with them.
We took photos in several areas of Tropicana Field. Wide shots of the field itself was an obvious scene for us, but the stadium seats and the outfield wall were nice spots too. One place Sarah & Daniel really wanted to take pictures was on top of the Rays dugout and we had a lot of fun with that. I closed the session with them standing at the Rays entrance to the field. I backlit the scene with “the rays” of my flash that worked well with writing above the entrance that says, “Home of the Rays”.
I photographed this Tropicana Field engagement session using two Nikon D750 cameras supported by a HoldFast Money Maker Harness and 14-24mm, 35mm, 85mm and 90mm (macro) lenses carried in an ONA Bowery Bag. Some photos were taken using a Godox AD200 flash with a 30″ shoot-through umbrella, or MagMod’s MagGrid attached.
